When a black artist does an about-face to what is considered conventional for black artists, there’s bound to be a cavalcade of detractors singing the haters’ anthem.

Cee-Lo Green releases The Lady Killer, his first solo album after recording two albums for his electro-soul duo Gnarls Barkley.

Green’s much-buzzed release includes a new hit single and music video entitled “F**k You.” The song resulted in raised eyebrows as well as a heightened anticipation for the album.
