On Wednesday night author, entrepreneur, model and The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Cynthia Bailey, hosted the Atlanta screening of the anticipated film, 12 Years a Slave at Atlantic Station’s Regal Cinemas. While numerous celebs strutted the red carpet (including Black Nativity’s Jacob Latimore, R&B singer RL, actress/singer Demetria McKinney and soul singer Angie Stone among others), the mood was decidedly somber following the screening of the powerful, chilling film, which is based on the 1853 autobiography by Solomon Northup, Twelve Years a Slave: Narrative of Solomon Northup. “It seems kind of silly to even ask whether or not your liked the movie,” a teary-eyed Bailey quipped following the screening before introducing the panelists who hosted a short Q&A about the importance of the film. 12 Years a Slave opens Oct. 18.
On April 5th, Upscale hosted a private screening of the premier episode of Bravo TV’s new series starring Kandi Burruss, The Kandi Factory. The star-studded night was also an exclusive celebration of Upscale’s April Style Issue.
