But judging from the heady rock of “Levels” and the funky dystopic tale “She’s Flying,” Airtight’s Revenge (a Donald Goines reference) is a shockingly solid effort that manages to seamlessly meld social commentary, existentialism and affairs of the heart. Arriving at just a shade under a decade behind its predecessor, this sophomore juggernaut is an eclectic, guitar-driven 11-track jaunt through the Zappa-esque world of one of the silkiest soul singers in the game.
