In the world of television, few names shine as brightly as Tyler Perry. Today, we sit down with Travis Cure, a talented actor from Perry's hit series "The Oval." Recently honored with a Trailblazer Award for his outstanding acting achievements, Travis opens up about his journey, inspirations, and aspirations in this exclusive interview as a our January cover star.

How did you land your role in Tyler Perry's "The Oval"?

Travis Cure: It’s quite an interesting story! I did an acting gig as a favor for a friend two years prior, and that performance ultimately landed in the hands of Tyler Perry. I guess you could say it was a stroke of luck and connection that brought me to this incredible opportunity.

Where were you and what were you doing when you got the call about your role as Bobby?

Travis Cure: I was actually at the gym, working out, when Tyler Perry himself called me. He asked if I could come in to audition for Bobby, Max, or Kareem. It was surreal! I remember feeling a rush of excitement and nerves all at once.

Tell us about your background and upbringing.

Travis Cure: I’m originally from Miami, Florida, raised by my mom and dad. I’m also a twin and have two other brothers. Growing up, sports were a huge part of my life, and I had a pretty decent childhood. Now, as a happy father, I take my role in my children’s lives very seriously. I recently visited my children’s school on Veterans Day, and I was overwhelmed with love as I saw how they honored veterans. It meant a lot to me because I’m a veteran myself. Family is everything to me, and I always stayed out of trouble as a kid.

Who are some legendary actors and actresses you look up to?

Travis Cure:  I really admire The Rock, Denzel Washington, and Taraji P. Henson. They’ve all carved out amazing careers and have inspired me in different ways.

What was one of your most memorable moments as a celebrity at an event you attended?

Travis Cure: Attending Tyler Perry's grand opening of his studio was unforgettable. I took my mom as my date, and she was so excited, meeting everyone and soaking in the atmosphere. The event was a star-studded affair, with everyone from Beyoncé to Jay-Z and Usher in attendance. It was, without a doubt, the most extravagant event I’ve ever experienced!

What role would you love to play that you haven’t yet?

Travis Cure: I’ve always dreamed of being in the DC Universe. It’s something I’m actively manifesting for 2025. I’m currently filming Season 8 of "The Oval," but I’m ready to work hard and make that DC dream a reality!

What advice would you like to give to the youth?

Travis Cure: My advice is simple: Work hard and listen to your parents. Respect your elders—old-fashioned hard work will get you far. Do it now and don’t wait until later in life to realize its importance.

If you could go back and change something, what would it be?

Travis Cure: I would change a few fake people who have crossed my path over the years. However, aside from that, I believe everything happens for a reason.

Travis Cure’s journey is a testament to hard work, dedication, and the profound impact of family and community. With his recent Trailblazer Award and continued success in "The Oval," there's no doubt we’ll be seeing much more from this talented actor. Keep an eye on Travis Cure—he's just getting started!
