Mo Clark: “The Shift” is all about transformation and breakthrough moments—what did your personal ‘shift’ look like during your journey on the show, and how did it change you both personally and professionally?
MiAsia Symone: My personal shift was about paying attention to detail and focusing on things that are aligned with my purpose. While shooting the show, I learned that I wasn’t as polished as I thought I was… which is what originally led to my business failing twice. Personally it humbled me even more than I already am while also giving me the courage to keep pushing forward. Professionally, it made me want to really lock in and focus on the tasks at hand when it comes to my shoe store (House of Heels Atlanta).
Mo Clark: The show centers around mentorship and accountability, with a powerful support system guiding each participant—how did that experience challenge you to confront what was holding you back?
MiAsia Symone: Honestly it was a tough pill to swallow but the experience was amazing! Learning that I had to change my business name was a little heartbreaking. However, having Tai Beauchamp, Egypt Sherrod, & Jesseca Harris-Dupart as mentors for that short period of time made such an impact on me. When successful, black women give you advice, you take it in and execute. There’s no time to sit around and talk about what hasn’t or didn’t happened. You take the gems and apply them immediately.
Mo Clark: Viewers see real, vulnerable moments on screen—was there a specific scene or breakthrough that felt especially defining for you, even beyond what audiences may realize?
MiAsia Symone: I honestly think each challenge in the episode exposed where I could brush up on my entrepreneurial skills a little more. There’s always room for improvement. However, I’m pretty much an open book. I don’t mind showing the world my challenges.
Mo Clark: As someone stepping into a space that empowers women to evolve into their next chapter, what message do you hope your story sends to viewers who may feel stuck or uncertain in their own lives?
MiAsia Symone: I believe the times we’re in now requires consistency and resilience …especially with the economy being bad. My message to the viewers would be to just go for it! You have to start somewhere. You may not have the perfect guidebook starting out. However, it’s best to get it rolling and the fine tune it later.
Mo Clark: After going through this transformative experience, how are you intentionally moving differently now—in your career, your mindset, and the way you show up for your purpose?
MiAsia Symone: I’m headed back to the drawing board. From finding a new name, to rebranding the company 100%, it’s going to be a process. I do believe that 3rd time’s a charm though. I’m built for it. Stay tuned! Now, with a renewed mindset and a fearless approach to reinvention, MiAsia Symone is proving that setbacks aren’t endings—they’re setups for something greater.
